Job Summary

AECOM has an opportunity for a

Health and Fitness Specialist supporting our program in Alice Springs, Australia. The selected candidate will support the health, fitness and wellbeing of JDFPG employees and their family members through the planning, oversight and execution of comprehensive health and fitness programs tailored to individuals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fitness consultations and assessments and develop unique and individualized fitness programs.

  • Lead or assist in teaching fitness workshops or seminars.

  • Provide support to the planning, management and continual evaluation of Fitness programs and equipment.

  • Perform administrative work to include familiarization tours of fitness facilities, provide facility oversight and attend meetings.

  • Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of fitness facilities.

  • Monitor and assist clients to ensure proper form is used when exercising and the safe and effective use of equipment.

  • Maintain a consistent client base and track weekly metrics.

  • Market Health, Wellness and personal training to clients, contribute health and fitness articles to the Wellness Newsletter and other fitness-related reports/correspondence.

  • Provide basic nutritional advice in accordance with healthy eating guidelines.

  • Refer clients to other services as required to support achievement of health and fitness goals.

  • Ensure compliance with all site environmental health and safety requirements.

  • Any other reasonable duties as requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • At least 3 years’ experience (with degree) or 5 years’ experience (with Cert IV) as a personal trainer including experience in designing and implementing personal fitness regimens .

  • Must be able to obtain a NV1 secret Department of Defence Security clearance or a Secret (US) security clearance.

  • Certificate IV in Fitness.

  • CPR.

  • Drivers Licence.

  • Senior First Aid.

  • Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, current industry trends and standards.

  • Ability to analyse client needs and deliver appropriate assistance.

  • Strong Microsoft office skills .

  • Strong interpersonal skills to maintain effective relationships and work collaboratively with other service providers.

  • Motivation, energy and enthusiasm with a desire to succeed .

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of principles of exercise physiology and functionality of relevant fitness equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Dietician qualification.

  • Degree in Exercise Science or equivalent.

  • Instructor qualification for group fitness programs such as Boot Camp, Yoga, Zumba or similar .
