AECOM has an exciting opportunity in Afghanistan on the EAGLE Afghanistan contract for a

Inspector - Allied Trades. Conducts initial inspections upon delivery of accepted work projects, materials and records data information for the processing of fabrication and maintenance work orders; conducts in-process and inspections as required during the manufacturing or repair phase of the fabrication/manufacturing project, vehicle or component; and explains work requirements, methods, goals and procedures. Reviews work in-process and conducts a final inspections upon completion of maintenance repairs/fabrication to ensure quality product output are met. Use and read various measurement devices i.e. calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and weld gauges to inspect all welding, fabrication, and machining projects for area of responsibility. Determine is a weldment meets the acceptance criteria of a specific code, standard, or other documents. Verifies that procedures being used are adequate for the effective control of quality, rejects defective workmanship and materials. Ensures compliance with government and corporate regulations, company SOPs, directives, and technical manuals to establish and maintain a quality management program. Coordinates with Shop Supervisor when technical problems arise and in-depth mechanical knowledge is required. Cross trains when required to ensure maximum flexibility and possession of technical skills in the development and maintenance of quality programs. Conducts surveillances and performs other administrative duties as required within the Quality Control Office. Ensure strict compliance to safety practices and support the AC FIRST Safety Policies and Procedures. Instills a safety first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries. Adhere to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of the AC FIRST Quality Management System. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • NACI / Tier 1 for US Citizens and PCC for Non US Citizens

  • Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI) Certification required

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in an occupational function with direct relationship to weldments fabricated to national or international standards.

  • Must be thoroughly familiar with welding process, welding procedures, and materials.

  • Must be able to read drawings, prepare and keep records, and make responsible judgments.

  • Must be able to pass an Inspector – Allied Trades PQS test within 30 days of hire.

  • Must be able to use and accurately read various measurement devices, i.e. calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, level table and weld gauges and tools.

  • Must have understanding of metals and their use in various applications.

  • Must have thorough knowledge of military technical publications.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years welding / machine, auto body & paint shop management or supervisory experience in Fabrication / manufacturing environment preferred.
