Job Summary

URS/AECOM has an opening for a­ Heavy Equipment Operator in Kuwait.

THIS IS A SURGE LEVEL OF EFFORT POSITION. THESE POSITIONS ARE TEMPORARY AND COULD LAST FROM 90 – 120 DAYS. THESE POSITIONS WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR A $2,500 DEPLOYMENT BONUS AND COMPLETION BONUS OF $7,500. ADDITIONAL CONTRACT EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES MAY BE AVAILABLE AFTER TEMPORARY POSITIONS.

­Operates heavy material handling equipment while engaged in moving, loading and unloading extremely heavy or bulky material and equipment such as aircraft engines and others aircraft components and support equipment. Heavy MHE operated includes but is not limited to 20 ton 25 H boom crane truck mounting, P-1 truck mobile Crane (11 ton -22 foot boom), TD-18 Tractor crane (7 tons -30 foot boom), Ross high forklift (7 1/2 tons), Gas electric crane (5 tons - 19 foot boom), TD-14 Tractor crane (4 tons- 18 foot boom). Hoists extremely heavy equipment, machinery and equipment where movability is limited or unlimited. Must possess a valid operators license for the equipment to be operated. Responsible for determining the type of equipment to be used based on the item to be lifted, weather, movement area, overhead clearances. Performs operator maintenance on the equipment to be operated especially checking for oil, looseness of boom bolts, kinks or breaks in cables, slack or tautness in tractor tracks. Schedules cranes for periodic and special inspections. Performs the following duties.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Operates heavy material handling equipment while engaged in moving, loading and unloading extremely heavy or bulky material and equipment such as aircraft engines and other aircraft components and support equipment.

  2. Hoists extremely heavy equipment, machinery and equipment where mobility is limited or unlimited.

  3. Responsible for determining the type of equipment to be used based on the item to be lifted, weather, movement area, overhead clearances.

  4. Performs operator maintenance on the equipment to be operated especially checking for oil, looseness of boom bolts, kinks or breaks in cables, slack or tautness in tractor tracks. Schedules cranes for periodic and special inspections.

Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

  • Completion certificate from a technical school on crane operations or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Must be licensed too operate the equipment utilized in the performance of this job.

  • Level III English required
