AECOM is seeking

Quality Specialist II to be based in our Denver, CO location.

The Quality Specialist II will assist the Quality Assurance Manager in maintaining compliance with the AECOM Nuclear Quality Assurance Program while ensuring that conflicts or issues with contract/specification requirements are identified and corrected in a timely manner. The Quality Specialist will take a lead role in the development of tools and processes to improve the QA program and work with Project Engineers and Project Managers to develop specifications, review design drawings, calculations, develop commercial grade dedication packages for structures, systems and components, process software verification and validation packages for safety and non-safety-related software, and perform audits, surveillance and management assessments.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • The ideal candidate will work on multiple projects in support of project managers to ensure that code, contract, and regulatory requirements are translated into the project engineering design documents prior to final review by the Nuclear QA Manager.

  • Develop and perform analyses of engineering studies, drawings, and specifications.

  • Work closely with the Nuclear QA Manager to provide guidance in applying the QA Program with QA/QC, field engineers, and project managers.

  • Generally support the Nuclear QA Manager on projects as needed.

  • Perform inspections, surveillances, audits, and assessments as needed.

  • Review in-coming, in-process, and final design documents including detailed inter-disciplinary reviews of mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, piping and, instrumentation and control drawings, diagrams, specifications, calculations, and equipment lists.

  • Perform quality assurance activities such as: project trend analysis, vendor and inspections; testing oversight and monitoring for compliance with specifications for design and construction of select mechanical, civil, instrumentation control and electrical requirements of the contract and design; conduct internal and external surveillance of the contractor's proposed quality control system and implementation thereof; and review technical documents, test plans, test procedures and test reports and submissions for completeness, technical adequacy, and compliance with design deliverables, construction contract requirements and applicable regulations.

  • Lead all quality-related activities, including regular review of construction quality plans and quality level and functional classifications of structures, systems and components; and draft monthly quality dashboard performance monitoring metric reports of leading and trailing quality performance indicators.

  • Assist in the review of purchase orders and subcontracts including defining the requirements for flow down of the appropriate quality assurance/quality control requirements.

  • Ensure all issues are appropriately logged in the QA project tracking system.

  • Perform quality assurance activities such as: project trend analysis, vendor and project inspections; testing oversight and monitoring for compliance with specifications for design and construction of all mechanical, civil, piping and instrumentation and electrical requirements of the project statement of work and design; conduct internal and external surveillance of the contractor's proposed quality control system and implementation thereof; and review technical documents, test plans, test procedures and test reports and submissions for completeness, technical adequacy, and compliance with design deliverables, construction work plans, contract requirements and applicable regulations.

  • Lead all quality-related activities, including regular review of construction quality plans and quality level and functional classifications of structures, systems and components; and draft monthly quality dashboard performance monitoring metric reports of leading and trailing quality performance indicators.

  • Assist in the review of purchase orders and subcontracts including defining the requirements for flow down of the appropriate quality assurance/quality control requirements to contractor's proposal.

  • Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, constant sitting while using the computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness; must possess planning/organizing skills and be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

Educational Requirement:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, quality assurance, construction management, facilities management, or another relevant engineering discipline from a four-year accredited college or university.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 7 years' work experience, post-graduation, in an Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) role or Engineering function within the nuclear industry with a minimum of five (5) years in the nuclear field.

  • Minimum of 3 years' at a supervisory level.

  • Must have working knowledge of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1 Quality Assurance programs.

  • Knowledge of the ASME, ASTM, AWS, codes essential.

  • Experience with commercial grade dedication of engineering software and hardware components, M&TE usage, and calibration.

  • Must have knowledge of various inspection techniques such as mechanical, welding, NDE, visual, hydrostatic/ pneumatic testing, receipt inspection, sampling, ASNT-TC-1A etc.

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office is required.

  • Must be familiar with Access database applications, Excel Spreadsheets, and Microsoft Word.

  • Proven record of planning, coordinating and executing complex capital projects in large office and/or technical complexes.

  • Must be detailed oriented and technically minded with effective oral, listening, and written skills.

  • Due to the nature of work, candidate must be a US Citizen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Some work experience at a DOE Facility is a plus.

  • Current or previous Nuclear/QA auditing Lead Auditor certification and experience is plus.
