Job Summary

This position is in support of the Army Aviation and Missile Support Command, Field Support Directorate, Fleet and Logistical Support Directorate (FLSD), Huntsville Alabama.

The Electronics Technician Maintenance III applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems that typically cannot be solved solely by referencing manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents. Examples of such problems include determining the location and density of circuitry, evaluating electromagnetic radiation, isolating malfunctions, and incorporating engineering; changes.

Additionally responsibilities:

(1) Perform assembly and solder joints in accordance with IPC-610 standards, must understand the hand soldering process, make judgments concerning good and bad solder joints, and be able to read and understand engineering documentation. This includes but is not limited to: using various manual/power tools and machinery to assemble component(s) to circuit boards, solder components/wires to circuit boards, repair or build cables according utilizing engineering drawings, operate contact machine, and conduct quality verification.

(2) Provide technical support for Automated Test Equipment (ATE) and associated Test Program Sets (TPS) which supports the Kiowa Warrior, Avenger, and Foreign Military Sales customers for the MLRS.

  • Provide on-site maintenance the BSTF, CEE, and associated TPS.

  • Manage the ATE calibration program.

  • Provide Reset for the BSTF.

Work typically requires an understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, exercising independent judgment in performing such tasks as making circuit analyses, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in signal flow, using complex test instruments such as high frequency pulse generators, frequency synthesizers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control Equipment. Work may be reviewed by supervisor for general compliance with accepted practices. This position may provide technical guidance to lower level technicians.

Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements

This position is in support of the Army Aviation and Missile Support Command, Field Support Directorate, Fleet and Logistical Support Directorate, Huntsville Alabama.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Minimum five (5) years actual and recent aircraft or vehicle, or missile experience required. Thorough knowledge of technical publications related to aircraft and missile electronics maintenance mandatory. Clarity of written and oral expression desired. Must have knowledge of the scopes and limitations of various categories of electronic maintenance (related maintenance functions) and their applications to the contract unit. Must know theory and principles of operation of engines, accessories and components, theory of flight and electronic flight controls, and a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic principles.

Must be capable of using and reading blueprints, wiring diagrams, and data tables. Must be able to inspect, repair, and operate ground support and auxiliary equipment.

Position may require travel.

Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Position will require the ability to pass a pre-employment drug-screen and a government background check.

Candidates must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
