Job Summary

AECOM is looking for a Sr. Network Systems Engineer to help provide support to DoS in Rosslyn VA. The incumbent will have the following duties:

Sr. Systems Engineer responsibilities/duties:

  • assist in troubleshooting of vendor applications such as Windows 2008R2, Windows 2012R2, and IIS

  • for requesting customized virtual machines and coordinating with Application Support Branch team-mates and customer on configuration and delivery. This includes ensuring that all required agents and updates have been deployed to these systems and that they are compliant with all security configuration standards;

  • to add the VM's to the network and to ensure that the machines are in the correct active directory organizational unit and applicable VM folder;

  • liasion with customers and the ESOC ESX team on the VM requests (business justifications, amount of memory, disk space and processors);

  • change local admin and service account passwords every 30 to 45 days, document the new information and submit it to government for safe-keeping;

  • deploy security updates and patches and schedule server reboots to complete this deployment;

  • draft and submit broadcast notices for any production outages;

  • request snapshot backups/restores as needed;

  • request PKI certificates and install/maintain;

  • coordinate Avamar backup of VM's and monitor job status;

  • support projects such as: the implementation of a staging environment, migration of VM's from one data center to another, operating system upgrades, etc.;

  • draft SOP's, AAR's and application topologies as needed;

  • prepare and submit a daily progress report;

  • support POAM remediation efforts, request .VMX files and provide to Compliance Governance Branch;

  • troubleshoot VM outages;

  • provide firewall support in NSX, as needed, including the creation/modification/removal of firewall rules, testing/analysis of the rules;

  • other duties as assigned;

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or course work in computer science or related field (provide official college transcripts for verification).

  • Four (4)+ years extensive experience supporting large Windows environments.

  • Four (4)+ years experience supporting and diagnosing TCP/IP protocols and supporting remote access software and services.

  • Four (4)+ years supporting wide area networks.

  • Four (4)+ years analyzing, designing, installing, and working with all aspects of the internet.

  • Four (4)+ years or more of Windows 2003/2008 experience.

  • Four (4)+ years of experience with SAN or NAS technology.

  • Four (4)+ years of experience working with Microsoft Systems Management Server.

  • Four (4)+ years of experience with Shell Scripting (sh, bash, csh, python, perl).

  • Proven experience in the setup and administration of SSH and HTTP servers in a UNIX/Solaris environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • ITIL Certification
