Position Title Machinery Maintenance Mechanic

This position repairs machinery or mechanical equipment. Work involves:
Examining machines and mechanical equipment to diagnose source of trouble;
Dismantling or partly dismantling machines and performing repairs that mainly involve the use of hand tools in scraping and fitting parts;
Replacing broken or defective parts with items obtained from stock;
Ordering the production of a replacement part by a machine shop or sending the machine to a machine shop for major repairs;
Preparing written specifications for major repairs or for the production of parts ordered from machine shops;
Reassembling machines and making all necessary adjustments for operation
Performing all other position related duties as assigned or requested.
Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
Shop environment, in which mechanical equipment is operated, is loud and noisy, and some pieces of equipment have exposed moving components. Must be able to stand and bend for long periods. Must be able to push and test vehicles and heavy objects. Routine lifting up to 50 pounds, regular handling, grasping, kneeling and carrying, and constant use of vision and mental alertness is required. Occasional use of safety glasses and hearing protection required.

AECOM has an opportunity for qualified Machinery Maintenance Mechanic at Solomons Island MD on our GSE Equipment contract.
High School graduate or equivalent with a minimum three (3) years experience performing mechanical maintenance on industrial equipment and/or performing metal fabrication.
Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory.
Must be able to meet physical requirements associated with and/or pass any medical examination requirements related to performing daily assigned tasks.
May be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.
Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English.
