AECOM has an immediate opening for an Electrician at Tobyhanna, Pa.
Install wire mold, raceways, and conduit in shelters and vans. Must be able to troubleshoot, disassemble, repair electrical components in shelters and vans. Must be able to solder, use hand and power tools, have ability to follow oral and written instructions, as well as the ability to read, understand and interpret drawings, schematics, and blueprints and fabricate and repair electronic components in accordance with drawings, standard work documents, technical reference orders, technical manuals, technical orders, etc. Must have knowledge of the National Electric Code theory. Must have knowledge of the National Electric Code Theory. Must be able to read, understand and interpret blueprints and fabrication and repair drawings. Must have basic knowledge of Electronics Theory and applications, must be able to fabricate and overhaul cable assemblies, switch boxes and power distribution boxes (Electrical and Electronics). Must be able to use common hand tools such as wire cutters, strippers, crimpers, and heat guns. Must be able to follow both written and oral instructions. Electricians must have basic knowledge of National Electrical Code. Must be able to work on Power Systems. Installs and tests a variety of electrical lines and circuits to components, devices, and fixtures in military shelters and vans, e.g., distribution boxes, monitoring panels, time and temperature relays, pressure and motor switches, lighting, fans, receptacles, etc. Installs wire mold, raceways and/or conduits and fittings, replaces or installs wires by pulling wire through wire mold or conduit and connecting to electric fixtures or components, etc. Disassembles, repairs, troubleshoots, and/or replaces wire mold, wires, and electrical components and devices. Builds or fabricates and wires phase meter boxes, power distribution boxes, and other meter boxes, as needed. Performs disassembly and assembly work in a number of shelters and vans. Disassembly work includes removing various types of radio equipment, teletype equipment, etc., from racks; unscrewing, removing and tagging the racks; removing raceways, lights, and/or cable if required; replacing rusted bolts; preparing inside shelter for painting by taping and masking areas identified for painting; removing rotted wire, etc. Assembly work involves installing lights; replacing nuts and bolts; installing equipment racks; etc. Participates as a member of a team in the repair and installation of equipment both in-house and on TDY assignments.
Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending and kneeling, and occasionally in cramped and awkward positions within shelters and vans. Required to lift and handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices, and aids such as movable tables and jacks. Required to use ladders in the performance of duties. Work is usually performed inside well lighted, adequately heated and ventilated areas.
Occasionally works outside in inclement weather and when on TDY assignments. Subject to cuts, bruises, scrapes, sprains, and strains from handling tools and installing equipment. Subject to burns from hot components, soldering, and electrical shock. May involve high voltage work. Required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the position. Work in vans/shelters may be dusty.
Must have High School Diploma or GED (May substitute experience with education on a year-by-year basis).
Must be able to perform overhaul of vans and shelters, repair an installation of equipment into systems. Be able to test a variety of electrical lines and circuits, perform overhaul of distribution boxes, motor controls, lighting, fans and receptacles.
May be required to pass and maintain a U.S. Government background security check.
Position requires an Interim Secret Security clearance.
Position requires 75% travel.
