Job Summary

Nuclear Waste Partnership, an LLC of AECOM, is seeking an experienced

Project Safety Manager in Carlsbad, New Mexico.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the Safety Significant Confinement Ventilation System (SSCVS) and the Utility Shaft (US) Project. The Project Safety Manager will perform detailed work, analyze findings, prepare reports, and make recommendations. Accurately interpret, apply and explain applicable codes, laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Use initiative and independent judgment to make decisions within established guidelines. Serve as a consultant for the purpose of achieving full compliance with applicable federal, state and DOE requirements pertaining to Construction/ Industrial/Mining Safety. Conduct frequent inspections of the new construction facilities to ensure compliance with requirements and safety of personnel. Conduct reviews using the General Contractor procedures to ensure hazards are appropriately defined and mitigated.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree plus twenty (20) years of relevant experience, or

  • Associate’s degree plus twenty-four (24) years of related experience, or

  • High School Diploma or GED with twenty-eight (28) years of experience.

  • Relevant experience must be in a safety related field.

  • Experience in implementation of OSHA/MSHA standards in industrial/mining/construction environments.

  • OSHA Training, Enforcement, Safety Compliance, Injury Illness Prevention and Accident Investigation Subject Matter Expert.

  • Ability to attain underground qualification, respirator qualification and RADII qualification.

  • Safety Certifications.

  • Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be US Citizens.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in Fall Protection, Excavations, Mining, Pre-Cast Tilt Up and Electrical is preferred.

  • Previous WIPP experience is preferred.
