Job Summary

AECOM is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Flight Systems and Platforms contract at NSWC Crane. The successful candidate will help design, develop, troubleshoot, and analyze software programs for computer based systems. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

1. Design, write, test, deploy and support software code as assigned.

2. Design, develop and modify utility programs and operating systems.

3. Provide inputs for documentation of new or existing programs as required.

4. Frequently interact with internal staff with occasional customer contact.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline (i.e. BSEE, BSCS) or equivalent experience, and 0 to 2 years of related experience are required. Excellent communications and analytical skills required. Position may require travel. Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.

Candidates should have demonstrated skills, knowledge, and experience in the following:

  • Proficient in C and Python

  • Proficient in use of Linux command-line utilities

  • Experience reading and writing assembly code

  • Understanding of control flow in assembly language, including function calling conventions

  • Ability to identify basic algorithms implemented in assembly language, such as memory allocation, traversal of linked lists and trees, and sorting algorithms

  • Understanding of the mechanisms of common software memory corruption vulnerabilities, including stack and heap overflows

  • Working knowledge of microcontroller and microprocessor programming, including electrical interfaces for programming devices

  • Familiarity with common laboratory electrical test equipment, including logic analyzers and oscilloscopes

  • Understanding of component-level electrical communication in embedded systems, including parallel interfaces and serial communication protocols, such as I2C, SPI, and UART

  • Experience designing and constructing basic electrical circuits

  • Experience in basic printed circuit board design preferred
