Job Summary

In this position, candidates will support

the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) to provide Engineering and Technical Support for NSWCDD’s, Platform Integration (H40) Division. Work will be performed in Dahlgren, Virginia.

The Embedded Design Engineer shall be capable of designing and implementing microcontroller, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), and single board computer based embedded systems. Key responsibilities include the following:


Understanding of electrical principles and digital logic


Prepare embedded system architecture and design documentation


Design and write embedded firmware


Ability to troubleshoot and debug embedded systems


Interact effectively with team members and contribute to solving problems and accomplishing tasks


Ability to interpret requirements to determine embedded architecture

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.

  • 0-3 years of experience ideally with specialized experience in the areas of either weapons, manned or unmanned, robotic, or weapon control system concept definition, design, integration, and engineering.

Position requires an active Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Languages: C/C++, VHDL, Verilog

  • Embedded Firmware Development Applications: Atmel Studio, Keil uVision, PSoC Creator, iSystem winIDEA, Xilinx ISE Design Suite, Vivado

  • Printed Circuit Board Design Applications: OrCAD, Eagle

  • Electrical Design Applications: SOLIDWORKS Electrical, AutoCAD

  • Interfaces: RS422, Ethernet, USB

  • Operating Systems: Linux
