Job Summary

ACEOM is seeking a Windows System Administrator to serve as the primary Point of Contact for the planning, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrading of Windows based desktop and server systems, and associated application software. The Administrator will also make recommendations regarding hardware and software acquisitions and provide security guidance and monitoring. This position will operate under the supervision and direction of the IT Manager.


  • Installs, configures and upgrades Windows-based systems and software using standard business and administrative packages; may modify specific applications as needed.

  • Troubleshoots customer system problems to determine root cause and makes or recommends the necessary corrective actions. Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve system problems.

  • Aides in the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.

  • Interact and coordinate with US Government staff and contractors as needed to implement new IT technologies and solutions.

  • Provide outstanding customer service to contract staff and other individuals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent with 2+ years relevant Systems Administration experience in a production environment..

  • 3+ years experience configuring, troubleshooting, and implementing Windows 2008 & 2012 Server

  • 3+ years experience configuring, and troubleshooting Windows Desktop Operating System from XP Professional up to Windows 10 with a working knowledge of Windows internal functionality and experience with Windows systems deployment.

  • 3+ years experience maintaining and support Microsoft Active Directory environments

  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy.

  • 2+ years experience with backup planning, methodology, and software, preferably Symantec BackupExec

  • 2+ experience maintaining and supporting Microsoft Exchange

  • Server 2010 email system.

  • Experience with managed anti-virus technologies such as McAfee Endpoint.

  • Familiarity with networking protocols like TCP/IP.

  • Experience with IT best practices for network security, system setup, and disaster recovery.

  • Excellent work ethic and ability to work both independently and with a team.

  • Using initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines and procedures

  • Organizing own work, setting priorities and meeting critical time deadlines

  • Communicating effectively with co-workers, subordinates, superiors, the general public, representatives of public and private organizations and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.

  • Understanding of the practice of least-privileged user accounts and how it affects users and administrators in Windows environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and other virtualization technologies

  • 2+ years experience maintaining and supporting Windows SharePoint

  • Experience using Windows Software Update Services to deploy patches.

  • Experience with Sage Timberline Estimating software.

  • Familiarity with the Maximo Facilities Management application.

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server configuration and management.

  • Experience with Oracle 12c database servers.

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Reporting Services and Visual Studio reports.

  • Installing, configuring and upgrading operating systems and software, using primarily standard business and administrative application practices.

  • Installing, configuring, assembling and repairing servers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers and related hardware

  • Troubleshooting and solving hardware and software problems.

  • Instructing users on new or upgraded computer applications and hardware.

  • Microsoft MCSE or A+ certification a plus.
