Job Summary


This incumbent supervises the jacking and towing of aircraft, enters in the maintenance records description of the work performed and verifies the work was performed satisfactorily, may service engines and airframe components at line station making repairs, short of overhaul, required to keep aircraft in safe operating condition, may specialize in work, repair and modification of structural, precision, and functional spare parts and assemblies, and may specialize in engine repair. This worker may be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration.

The Aircraft Painter removes coatings on aircraft and equipment surfaces by Media Blast methods and other mechanical methods. Must have experience in applying paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices. Smoothes surface with sandpaper and steel wool roughens aluminum surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to insure that paint adheres to surface, masks and covers portions of surfaces not to be painted, and paint insignia, letters or numerals on aircraft surface, using stencils. Must be able to perform other duties as assigned by the Mechanic-3 and Site Supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

Must have a have a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Must have four (4) years aircraft painting experience. Must have valid driver's license

Must have HVLP paint experience (at least 24 months).

Must Have Valid Class C Driver’s License.

Experience required with a variety of adhesives and fillers to included catalyzed plastic filler, resin’s and epoxy.

Experience required in the use of calibrated instruments.

Experience and Proficient understanding of a large variety of Government forms and documents and their applicable use in ARMY Aviation Maintenance.

Experience required in the category of coating application: Water Borne, Aliphatic Poly Urethanes, High Solid Urethanes, Lacquers, Multi-component Conductive Coatings and Chemical Agent Resistant Coatings.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquires (NACI)
